**Biden and Trump to Meet for Transition Talks at Oval Office**

President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump are scheduled to meet at the Oval Office on Wednesday as part of the traditional presidential transition process. This meeting underlines the current administration's commitment to ensuring a smooth transfer of power.

This period of transition is crucial for the incoming President-elect, who will start assembling his administration and vetting numerous applicants for key positions. The importance of these activities lies in setting the foundation for the new administration's future endeavors and policies.

It is worth noting that former President Trump had refused such a meeting in 2020 when Biden won the presidential election. Trump had not conceded the election even by the Saturday following the election results.

Addressing the nation from the White House Rose Garden, President Biden emphasized the importance of perseverance amidst challenges. "Setbacks are unavoidable, but giving up is unforgivable," Biden remarked, urging his supporters to keep striving for their aspirations for the country. His statements came in the wake of the Democratic Party's disappointment over Trump's decisive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.

Vice President Harris conceded on Wednesday after losing the presidential race decisively to Trump. The Democrats had anticipated a stronger contest in the battleground states that Biden had won four years prior, but the election results did not meet these expectations.

With over 75 days remaining until Inauguration Day, the transition process for President-elect Trump is set to gain momentum. During this period, Congress will formally certify the election results, and Trump will start receiving national security and intelligence briefings as part of the preparation for assuming the presidency.
