President Biden's campaign has allegedly avoided directly addressing accusations from former President Trump and his supporters that Biden plans to take performance-enhancing drugs during the upcoming CNN Presidential Debate. The controversial topic has sparked a heated debate, with Trump even suggesting that both candidates undergo drug testing before the showdown.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Biden campaign, White House, and Trump campaign for comment on whether the candidates have any plans to use performance-enhancing drugs for the debate. While the Biden campaign evaded a direct answer twice, spokesperson Lauren Hitt dismissed the accusations as "desperate, obviously false lies" from a scared Trump, who is eager to avoid being held accountable for his alleged agendas.

In contrast, the Trump campaign's national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, issued a direct response, denying any plans for President Trump to take performance-enhancing drugs. Leavitt emphasized Trump's natural stamina, stating that he doesn't require such substances, unlike Biden, who she claims might be "drugged up" for the debate, as alleged during the State of the Union address.

Though there is no clear evidence that Biden has used any performance-enhancing drugs during his presidency, Trump and several Republican lawmakers, including former White House physician Ronny Jackson, have called for Biden to take a pre-debate drug test. They point to a recent Wall Street Journal report where lawmakers and administration officials described concerns about Biden's mental acuity.

The White House has dismissed these concerns as partisan politics, defending Biden as a "savvy and effective" leader. However, previous instances of Biden's alleged forgetfulness and gaffes have further fueled speculation about his mental state. Videos of Biden appearing frozen at public events and instances where he needed guidance from others have raised questions about his cognitive abilities.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre denounced these videos as "disinformation" pushed by right-wing critics, discrediting their credibility. Fox News Digital reported that Biden's campaign events this year have been limited, with only three speeches lasting over 30 minutes, earning him the nickname "Basement Joe" during the 2020 election cycle.

Data compiled by Fox News also indicates that Biden has held 36 news conferences as of June 2024, averaging about 33 minutes per interaction. In comparison, Trump held 60 news conferences during the same time period. These statistics have added to the scrutiny surrounding Biden's transparency and availability to the press.

As the debate approaches, the drug test accusations continue to swirl, with both sides taking firm stances. While Biden's campaign has avoided directly addressing the allegations, Trump and his supporters persist in demanding a drug test. The outcome of this ongoing controversy remains to be seen, but it undoubtedly adds to the intensity and anticipation surrounding the upcoming CNN Presidential Debate.
