In response to Arizona's recent state Supreme Court decision upholding a 160-year-old ban on almost all abortions, President Biden's campaign has launched a significant ad buy in the state. The seven-figure ad campaign aims to highlight the impact of the ban and link former President Donald Trump to the push for near-total abortion bans.

The Biden campaign has been keen on connecting Trump to the restriction on reproductive rights, citing his appointment of three conservative judges who played a pivotal role in the recent Dobbs decision that overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling. Trump himself has proudly proclaimed his efforts to undermine Roe v. Wade, although he has distanced himself from the Arizona decision.

The advertisement, titled "Power Back," features President Biden speaking directly to the camera, expressing concern for the loss of women's freedom to control their own bodies due to the actions of Donald Trump. He emphasizes the potential danger to women's lives and calls into question the future freedoms under a Trump administration. Biden pledges to fiercely fight for the restoration of these freedoms. The ad will air on targeted television programs throughout the month, with a particular focus on reaching younger female and Latino residents.

In addition to the ad campaign, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) plans to launch a billboard campaign across the Tempe and Phoenix metro areas, in both English and Spanish, specifically targeting Trump for the state's abortion ban.

Arizona has been the focal point of the Biden-Harris campaign this week, following the state Supreme Court's decision. The ruling, which allows for exceptions to save the life of the mother but none for cases of rape or incest, has faced criticism from prominent Arizona Republicans, although attempts to overturn the ban have been blocked by Republicans in the state.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat, has stated that she will not prosecute anyone under the strict abortion law, which imposes felony charges on those who perform abortions or assist women in accessing the procedure.

Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to visit Tucson on Friday as part of the campaign's concentrated efforts to address and support reproductive rights issues. Prior to the court ruling, Trump had expressed his belief that abortion laws should be determined at the state level, but he later acknowledged that the Arizona Supreme Court may have gone too far in its decision.

As the battle over reproductive rights continues to unfold, both the Biden campaign and Democratic officials in Arizona are determined to protect women's rights and combat what they view as restrictive measures enacted under the previous administration.
