In a heartfelt speech to a group of United Steelworkers union members in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, President Joe Biden became visibly emotional as he condemned former President Donald Trump, stating that he "doesn't deserve to be the Commander in Chief for my son." The President's remarks were in reference to his late son, Beau Biden, who served as a major in the Delaware Army National Guard.

During his speech, President Biden referenced reports of Trump allegedly referring to fallen U.S. servicemen in a French cemetery as "suckers and losers" during his term as president. Biden strongly criticized these remarks, highlighting Trump's supposed reluctance to visit American grave sites when asked to do so.

"I'm not making that up. The staff who were with him acknowledge it today. Suckers and losers. That man doesn't deserve," Biden said, his voice catching as he paused for several seconds before adding, "to be the Commander in Chief for my son."

Beau Biden, who served as Delaware's attorney general, dedicated a year of his life to active duty in the Judge Advocate General's Corps in the National Guard. This included a deployment in Iraq that lasted seven months, starting in 2008. Tragically, Beau Biden passed away from brain cancer in 2015 while his father was serving as vice president under former President Barack Obama.

The speech by President Biden brought attention to an article in The Atlantic by Jeffrey Goldberg, which detailed accounts of Trump canceling a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018. The article claimed that Trump refused the visit due to concerns about his appearance in the rain and a lack of appreciation for honoring American war dead.

Trump reportedly referred to members of the U.S. military who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as "suckers" and labeled the cemetery as filled with "losers." The President's former chief of staff, retired four-star Marine general John Kelly, confirmed the details of the article in a CNN interview, expressing his disappointment in Trump's remarks.

In response to Kelly's statements, a spokesman for Trump's campaign dismissed the claims as "debunked stories." The Trump administration has previously criticized Kelly's credibility, accusing him of not serving the former president well during his tenure as chief of staff.

President Biden's emotionally charged criticism of Trump's alleged disrespect for the sacrifices made by U.S. service members highlighted the deep personal significance of the issue for him. As Commander in Chief, Biden aims to honor the sacrifices of servicemen and women, ensuring their dedication and bravery are recognized and respected.
