President Biden Visits Seattle for Private Fundraising Event
MEDINA, Wash. - President Joe Biden made a visit to Seattle this weekend, attending a private fundraising event in Medina on Saturday afternoon. The president had spent the night in downtown Seattle and received a morning briefing before heading to the fundraiser around noon.
This was the second private fundraising event that President Biden attended since his arrival on Friday evening. On Friday, the president also participated in a campaign event in Seattle at 7 p.m., as disclosed by the White House.
State troopers took security measures and began blocking exits to I-405 in Bellevue around 1:15 p.m. to ensure a safe route for the president. Though the exact route to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport was not released, President Biden departed from SEA around 1:35 p.m., en route to Dover, Delaware.
The president's visit to Seattle caused delays at SEA and road closures across the Puget Sound region. The U.S. Secret Service had the authority to intermittently close roads and freeways for security purposes during Biden's visit.
On Friday evening, President Biden landed at SEA in Air Force One and was welcomed by several elected officials, including Governor Jay Inslee, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, King County Executive Down Constantine, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), and Rep. Suzan DelBene (WA-01). These elected officials gathered to greet and show their support for the president during his visit.
During his previous visit to Seattle in April 2022, President Biden had made an appearance at Green River College in Auburn to commemorate Earth Day.
President Biden's visit to Seattle allowed him to engage in fundraising efforts while also receiving support from various elected officials. The security measures taken during his visit ensured the smooth operation and safety of the event.
