### Polish Farmers Protest as Ukraine Remembers Holodomor Tragedy

Polish farmers have initiated a new blockade at the Ukraine border, shifting their protest focus from Ukrainian grain imports to a looming EU-South American trade agreement. The farmers' action highlights their concerns over the potential economic impacts of the trade pact on local agriculture.

While this protest unfolds, the memory of the Holodomor is being solemnly commemorated. An evocative exhibition at the Ukrainian House in Washington is shedding light on the brutal reality Ukrainians faced during Stalin's man-made famine from 1932 to 1933. The display features survival meals made from harsh ingredients such as oak bark, potato peels, and flax seeds—meals that starkly illustrate the extreme hardships endured during the famine.

Concurrently, in the occupied areas of Ukraine, Russian forces are reportedly preparing to suppress Holodomor commemorations. The occupiers are accused of attempting to erase historical markers of the famine, fostering a culture of repression and surveillance to stifle any remembrance activities. This effort to silence the memory of the Holodomor adds another layer of grief to Ukraine's ongoing struggle to honor its past amid present-day conflicts.
