Officer Jensen, serving with the Syracuse Police Department, tragically lost his life alongside Sheriff's Deputy Lt. Michael Hoosock in a hail of gunfire on Sunday night in a suburban Salina neighborhood. The shooter, identified as Christopher R. Murphy of Salina, also lost his life in the ensuing gunfight.
The procession began at the Wallie J. Howard Center for Forensic Sciences, where law enforcement officers and vehicles congregated to bid their final respects. From there, the procession followed Interstate 81 North towards Rome, a route lined with fire trucks positioned on bridges over the highway. According to Trooper Tara McCormick, the procession entered the Thruway at Exit 36 and later exited at Exit 33, proceeding to the funeral home. To ensure an uninterrupted journey, eastbound ramps were closed, and a "rolling road block" was implemented.
