### Arnold Palmer's Daughter Responds to Trump's Controversial Remarks

Arnold Palmer's daughter, Peg Palmer Wears, has addressed the recent comments made by Donald Trump about her late father. In a statement to The Associated Press, Wears, 68, described Trump's references to her father's genitalia as "a poor choice of approaches" to honor him, although she admitted she wasn't overly disturbed by the remarks.

"There's nothing much to say. I'm not really upset," Wears expressed during the interview on Sunday. "It was a poor choice of approaches to remembering my father, but what are you going to do?"

The controversy arose on Saturday in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Palmer's birthplace, where Trump launched his rally with a lengthy 12-minute narrative about Palmer. The story included an anecdote about Palmer's appearance in the showers, which Trump described with evident humor, stating, "When he took the showers with other pros, they came out of there. They said, 'Oh my God. That's unbelievable.'" He added with a laugh, "I had to say. We have women that are highly sophisticated here, but they used to look at Arnold as a man."

Although Wears had only brief interactions with Trump at events many years ago, she acknowledged that her father and Trump shared a common passion for golf. Trump, an avid golfer himself, owns golf courses worldwide.

Reflecting on her father, who passed away in 2016 at the age of 87, Wears became emotional, recalling his staunch belief in the Republican Party. "A day doesn't go by that I don't think about what my father would say about something or what's happening," she said. "We didn't always agree on matters, but he was a quintessential American who fervently believed in this country, even when he questioned its direction."

Meanwhile, Gov. Chris Sununu of New Hampshire expressed his dissatisfaction with Trump's comments during an ABC interview, arguing that such remarks wouldn't influence voter decisions. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont also criticized Trump, suggesting that his focus on trivial matters would alienate voters looking for substantial discourse on significant issues facing the nation.

Wears, who resides in North Carolina—a pivotal state in elections—declined to disclose her voting choice for the upcoming election. She described herself as an "unaffiliated" voter and emphasized the importance of voters making informed decisions based on their knowledge and understanding. "The people of western Pennsylvania are very smart, hard-working people," Wears said. "They'll make their own decisions, as I will make mine."
