In a surprising turn of events on WWE's "Raw" last night, Kansas City Chiefs' star quarterback Patrick Mahomes made multiple appearances alongside WWE US Champion Logan Paul. However, fans were taken aback when Mahomes was portrayed as a heel, aligning himself with Paul. What seemed like an odd decision, especially in Mahomes' hometown of Kansas City, now appears to have an explanation.

According to insider reports, the decision for Mahomes to go heel was reportedly not in the hands of WWE. On the latest episode of "Wrestling Observer Radio," Dave Meltzer revealed that the involvement of Mahomes in "Raw" was actually orchestrated by the show's sponsor, energy drink company Prime. Both Mahomes and Paul are sponsors for Prime, and they explicitly requested to be seen together throughout the show.

Mahomes' first appearance on "Raw" involved him greeting Paul, alongside Judgment Day, as the show kicked off. Later on, Paul approached Mahomes at ringside, and the Chiefs' superstar allowed Paul to utilize his three Super Bowl rings to strike Jey Uso, albeit accidentally hitting JD McDonaugh instead. Paul found himself fleeing into the crowd when former WWE star Braun Strowman made a surprise return.

Interestingly, Mahomes was not the only Kansas City Chiefs player caught in the WWE fever last night. Offensive linemen Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith were also seen in attendance, seated next to Mahomes. They provided backup for the quarterback when Strowman confronted him, with Uso stepping in before the situation escalated physically.

The WWE Draft's "Raw" portion received a significant boost with Mahomes' involvement on the show. However, the revelation that the Chiefs' superstar went heel due to a sponsorship arrangement with Prime came as a surprise to many fans. This indicates the growing influence of sponsorships in professional wrestling and how they can shape storylines and character alignments.

As wrestling fans eagerly await further developments, it remains to be seen how long Mahomes will maintain his heel persona on "Raw" or if his sponsorship commitments will continue to intertwine with his appearances in the squared circle.
