In a tragic incident on Saturday night, an armed man was shot and killed by an officer from the Pasadena Police Department after a pursuit came to an end in a residential neighborhood. The authorities have confirmed the details of the incident.
The incident unfolded at around 8:39 p.m. when officers noticed a white pick-up truck facing the wrong way on a one-way street. As they approached the driver, he suddenly accelerated, narrowly avoiding hitting an officer in the process. The Pasadena Police Department immediately initiated a pursuit of the suspect, who was now wanted for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
The chase came to a sudden halt at the 800 block of Arden Road, as the suspect crashed into a vehicle parked in the driveway of a house. Witness video captured the moment of impact, revealing the extent of the collision. After the crash, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled into the nearby neighborhood.
During his escape, the armed suspect forcibly entered two homes before being located by officers in the backyard of a house on the 700 block of Oak Knoll Circle. A K9 unit was deployed to apprehend the suspect, but during the confrontation, the suspect brandished a handgun and refused to comply with officers' orders to drop it.
In response to the immediate threat, an officer fired at the suspect, resulting in his death. The exact number of shots fired or if the suspect fired any shots himself was not disclosed by the Pasadena Police Department. However, it was confirmed that the firearm was recovered at the scene.
