**OU vs. Maine Football Game Rescheduled Due to Severe Weather Forecast**

In response to anticipated severe weather, the University of Oklahoma (OU) has rescheduled its football matchup against Maine. Originally slated for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, the game will now begin at 11 a.m. The decision aims to prioritize the safety of students, athletes, and fans, allowing them ample time to enjoy the game and return home before conditions potentially worsen.

OU Vice President and Athletics Director Joe Castiglione emphasized the necessity of the change. "With Saturday's forecast calling for afternoon storms, we made the decision to move the game up for the safety of fans and participants," Castiglione stated in a news release. The earlier start is intended to navigate around severe weather predictions, which include the possibility of hail, strong winds, and isolated severe storms.

Gate openings and pregame festivities have also been adjusted to accommodate this shift. Gates at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium will now open at 9 a.m., while the Allstate Party at the Palace will run from 7-10:30 a.m. The traditional Walk of Champions is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. All planned activities are geared towards ensuring fans still experience a full game day atmosphere despite the earlier start.

KOCO 5 Meteorologist Jonathan Conder has outlined a concerning weather forecast for the Oklahoma City metro, including Norman. Predicted storm activity includes hail the size of quarters and winds reaching 60-70 mph. The risk window is forecasted from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, right during the originally planned game time, hence the scheduling change.

The Sooners, currently holding a 4-4 record, aim to break a three-game losing streak with a victory over Maine, for which they are favored by 34.5 points. The game will still be broadcasted on ESPN+ and SEC Network +, ensuring fans who cannot attend can still follow the action live.
