**Oregon Retains Top Spot in AP Top 25 Poll Amidst Shifts in Rankings**
Oregon continues to dominate as the unanimous No. 1 team in the latest Associated Press Top 25 college football poll, even after a closely contested victory over Wisconsin. Meanwhile, Notre Dame and Alabama climbed two spots each, and Georgia made its way back into the top 10. In a notable shakeup, LSU fell out of the rankings for the first time in two years.
The Ducks secured all 62 first-place votes for the third consecutive week, despite putting up their lowest point total in 37 games with a 16-13 win against Wisconsin. Oregon remains at the pinnacle of both the AP poll and the College Football Playoff rankings and is on track to potentially secure its first perfect regular season since 2010. A pivotal matchup against Washington awaits them in two weeks.
Following Oregon, the top five features No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Texas, No. 4 Penn State, and No. 5 Indiana, unchanged from the previous week. However, this lineup is at risk of disruption as Indiana is set to face off against Ohio State in one of the season's most anticipated games.
Georgia made a notable leap to No. 8 after their solid 31-17 victory over Tennessee, which remained in the top 10 but slipped four spots. Mississippi also edged up one spot, maintaining its place in the top rankings. Notably, the Big Ten continues to secure four of the top five positions, while the Southeastern Conference boasts five teams within the top 10.
BYU experienced a significant drop from No. 7 to No. 14 after suffering a 17-13 home defeat to Kansas. This result has positioned the Cougars in a first-place tie within the Big 12 alongside Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes, who are now ranked No. 16.
Additionally, a season-high of four Group of Five teams has made it into the Top 25. Leading the pack is No. 12 Boise State, which remains the highest-ranked team among these programs, followed by No. 23 UNLV. The American Athletic Conference is represented by No. 18 Army and No. 20 Tulane.
LSU's third consecutive loss, a 27-16 defeat at the hands of Florida, has pushed them out of the Top 25, ending their 36-week presence in the rankings.
Even with their close victories, Oregon is proving their mettle and aiming for an exceptional season, underscored by their tenacity in tight games like the three-point wins they've secured this year.
