**'Lieutenant Dan' Arrested After Ignoring Court Dates and Trespassing Warnings**

Joseph Malinowski, known online as "Lieutenant Dan" for his daring decisions to stay on his 20-foot sailboat during Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, was arrested last Friday on various charges. The Tampa police reported that these charges include failing to appear in court on two separate occasions and a misdemeanor trespassing offense in a city park after a warning was issued.

According to the police, officers had warned Malinowski, 54, on Thursday about health hazards associated with his boat. Specifically, he lacked an "accessible marine sanitation device" and had no documented proper waste disposal for his unregistered vessel. Despite being instructed to leave the Bayshore Linear Park and Dock, Malinowski was found there the following morning.

Malinowski was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he remained on Friday afternoon. His vessel was impounded by the authorities. As of Friday, there were no confirmations regarding whether Malinowski had obtained legal representation.

The avid sailor first drew widespread attention through a series of videos posted by TikTok creator Terrence Concannon, which showcased Malinowski’s bold decision to weather Hurricane Helene on his sailboat, a feat he repeated during Hurricane Milton.
