In a recent turn of events, Ohio Senator JD Vance finds himself under scrutiny once again for making unsurfaced comments about individuals who are not parents. This time, Vance has targeted a teachers union president for not having children of her own. These remarks come amidst a heated election race, where the GOP's vice presidential nominee has been criticized for several resurfaced comments about women and family.

Speaking at a Center for Christian Virtue leadership forum in October 2021, alongside other candidates for the Ohio Senate, Vance directed his criticism towards the education system, saying, "So many of the leaders of the left, and I hate to be so personal about this, but they're people without kids, trying to brainwash the minds of our children." These comments once again highlight Vance's views on parenthood and his belief that individuals without children should not have influence over young minds.

The American Federation of Teachers recently endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential bid, further exacerbating the friction between Vance and the teachers union president. Randi Weingarten, the president of the AFT, reposted a clip of Vance's comments and condemned his remarks as "gross!"

In response to the backlash, a spokesperson for Vance, Taylor Van Kirk, stated that the criticism was not directed towards all teachers and acknowledged the presence of many great educators across the country. However, this hasn't stopped Vance from facing criticism from various quarters.

This incident is part of a larger pattern where Vance and the GOP ticket have made disparaging remarks about women, often caught on tape or publicly said. Vance's past comment about "childless cat ladies," which specifically mentioned Vice President Kamala Harris, continues to haunt his reputation, especially as an increasing number of adults under 50 express their intention of not having children.

In an effort to reframe his attacks on "childless" Democrats, Vance appeared on numerous Sunday talk shows to present his criticisms as a push for more family-friendly policies. This move comes as Vance, following his earlier association with former President Trump, seeks to clarify his stance and improve his favorability.

Despite attempts to clarify his position, Vance's comments about women without children have caused intense backlash from not only celebrities but also from the growing number of individuals who choose not to have children. As the election campaign progresses, Vance will have to navigate these controversies and address concerns about his views on women, family, and parenthood.

Overall, JD Vance's recent comments targeting a teachers union president and his previous remarks about "childless cat ladies" continue to fuel criticism and further scrutiny of the GOP vice presidential nominee's views on women and family. As the campaign unfolds, it remains to be seen how Vance's remarks will impact his reputation and chances in the election.
