Obama Allegedly Behind Efforts to Undermine Biden's Reelection Campaign, Morning Joe Host Claims

In a surprising revelation, Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough suggested that former President Barack Obama is working behind the scenes to undermine President Joe Biden's reelection campaign. This comes as the Democratic party remains divided following Biden's shaky debate performance against former President Donald Trump last month.
Prominent Democrats, including some of Biden's colleagues on Capitol Hill, have called for him to drop out of the presidential race and make way for another Democrat to run for the party's nomination. However, Biden has made it clear that he intends to stay in the race, stating in a recent interview with ABC News that he will only drop out if "God tells him to."
During Thursday's show, Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski implied that Obama may have influenced actor George Clooney to write a New York Times op-ed calling for Biden to step down. When Scarborough asked Brzezinski if she believed Obama had put Clooney up to it, she responded, "I think that Barack Obama has a lot of influence, and I think that there's a lot there."
Scarborough further explained that there are beliefs within the Biden campaign and among many Democratic officials that Obama is quietly orchestrating these efforts. He cautioned that even if Biden believes this, it won't prompt him to exit the race any faster.
Newsweek reached out to Biden's campaign, MSNBC, and The Office of Barack and Michelle Obama for comment, but there has been no response so far. Politico reported that Clooney, a Democratic donor and a prominent face of Biden's fundraising efforts, informed Obama prior to publishing his op-ed titled "George Clooney: I Love Joe Biden. But We Need a New Nominee." Sources claim that while Obama did not encourage or advise Clooney to write the op-ed, he also did not object to it.
Obama has publicly supported Biden's reelection campaign and has played a crucial role in his fundraising efforts. The former president defended Biden's underwhelming debate performance, stating, "Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know."
Scarborough also commented on the relationship between Biden and Democratic officials, stating that the president is resentful of his treatment by the Obama staff and being pushed aside for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. He added that Biden has always felt like an outsider and that people have looked down upon him.
It is worth noting that Biden is reportedly a loyal viewer of Morning Joe and shares a close relationship with Scarborough and Brzezinski. He called into the program earlier this week to reaffirm that he will not be quitting the 2024 race, emphasizing that losing to Trump is not an option for him.
As these allegations continue to circulate, the question of Obama's involvement in undermining Biden's campaign remains unresolved. The ongoing divisions among Democrats and concerns regarding Biden's ability to secure a victory in the upcoming election have raised significant discussions within the party.
