**North Carolina’s Early Voting Hits Milestone Surpassing 1 Million Ballots**

In a significant display of civic participation, over 1 million North Carolina residents have cast their ballots in the first four days of early in-person voting for the 2024 general election, according to preliminary data from the State Board of Elections. By Sunday, the total number of ballots reached 1,008,123.

Breaking down the voting methods, in-person early voting accounted for 916,433 of the total votes. This impressive turnout represents approximately 13% of the nearly 7.8 million registered voters in the state. Notably, some figures might be slightly underreported due to potential delays in data synchronization from county boards to the State Board.

The early voting period has shown a notable increase compared to previous elections. During the first three days alone, nearly 863,000 voters headed to the polls, marking a 2.4% rise compared to the same period in 2020, when around 843,000 ballots were cast. This uptick in early voting follows a shift away from the heavy reliance on absentee ballots observed during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, highlighting a return to more traditional voting methods among North Carolina residents.
