In a recent interview with CNN's Jake Tapper, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley reaffirmed her decision to support former President Donald Trump over Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in the November election. Haley, who had previously made critical statements about Trump during their primary battle, stated that she does not regret her endorsement and believes that voting for Biden would ultimately mean supporting Harris.

Reflecting on President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race, Haley expressed that she wasn't surprised by the decision and did not take pleasure in it. She explained that throughout the campaign, she had raised concerns about mental competency tests, not to disrespect Biden, but because she believes there is an issue in Washington, D.C., where politicians cling onto power without considering the best interests of the American people.

Regarding Harris, Haley criticized the Democrats for choosing her as the VP candidate, labeling her as one of the most liberal politicians they could have put forward. She argued that elevating Harris weakened the Democratic Party's chances, as she holds more progressive views than Biden himself. Haley, however, discouraged Republicans from attacking Harris based on her identity as a woman of color. Instead, she recommended focusing on policy differences, such as immigration, fracking, and foreign policy.

Haley's decision to endorse Trump and speak at the Republican National Convention came after a contentious primary campaign in which she had criticized the former president harshly. Despite this, Haley stated that the tough rhetoric exchanged during campaigns is a normal part of the process and does not warrant apologies or retractions.

Addressing her previous remarks questioning whether Trump would adhere to the Constitution if reelected, Haley expressed her hope that he would do so, emphasizing the importance of holding presidents accountable and demanding adherence to constitutional principles.

As the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Haley also discussed foreign policy, specifically mentioning the need for both Trump and Ohio Sen. JD Vance to stand firm against Russia's actions in Ukraine. She defended Trump's record on handling dictators and called for moral clarity in supporting allies like Ukraine, Taiwan, and Israel.

Haley criticized both Harris and Vance for not attending Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to Congress, highlighting the significance of showing solidarity with Israel as a united front.

Responding to criticism from former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who claimed that Haley supported Trump solely for her own presidential ambitions, Haley dismissed the remarks, labeling them as comical and highlighting Christie's unsuccessful presidential bid in 2016.

In the interview, Haley expressed her unwavering support for Trump and explained her decision to endorse him, while also criticizing Biden's campaign withdrawal and Harris' policy positions.
