### Nikki Haley Poised to Join Trump on Campaign Trail to Win Over GOP Voters
Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley is in discussions to team up with former President Donald Trump on the campaign trail, according to sources familiar with the talks. The pair aims to attract disaffected Republicans as Trump gears up for the November elections. Although specific dates and details are still being finalized, a potential town hall event later this month, possibly involving Fox News personality Sean Hannity, is being considered.
Trump’s campaign has been focusing on narrowing the gender gap, hosting multiple town halls moderated by female political figures since August. However, none of these events have featured someone with Haley’s profile. Known for running a fierce primary campaign against Trump, Haley eventually became the last Republican standing and even spoke on his behalf at the Republican National Convention. Despite this, she has not appeared with Trump since the convention, hinting at lingering tension during her recent SiriusXM radio show.
Haley's remarks on the show indicated that she still harbors reservations about Trump due to past conflicts, including derogatory comments and campaign tactics he used against her. Nonetheless, she continues to support him, believing that he is the best candidate to improve the country. These comments did not go unnoticed in Trump's circles, with one confidant noting that complete loyalty is often expected in Trump’s camp.
The former president is aware that Haley's established Republican brand, which includes respectful disagreements, could be beneficial for his campaign. Concurrently, Vice President Kamala Harris has been making efforts to attract Haley's voters, launching initiatives such as Republicans for Harris and hiring a National Republican Engagement Director. This strategy has shown signs of success, with some polls indicating Harris receiving more support from Democrats and a small crossover from Republicans.
A recent poll highlighted that 43 percent of Haley's primary voters were unaware she had endorsed Trump. To address this, Haley has recorded a robocall for Trump's campaign. Nevertheless, the poll revealed that Trump only leads Haley’s primary voters by 9 percentage points over Harris, a significant drop compared to his 2020 margin over Joe Biden.
Pollster Evan Roth Smith cautioned that Haley might not be able to easily transfer her primary supporters to Trump, suggesting their support for her was more about opposition to Trump rather than strong allegiance to her. Despite assisting with fundraising and endorsing Trump, some within his campaign remain skeptical about a joint event, speculating that unresolved issues could pose a barrier.
Among those who are optimistic, one top Republican consultant praised Haley’s efforts, emphasizing her fundraising and robocall contributions. However, others in Trump's team have expressed doubt, only believing in the collaboration once they see Haley onstage with Trump. If the event does occur, it would cap off Trump's town hall series with women hosts, featuring notable figures like Tulsi Gabbard, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Marsha Blackburn, Anna Paulina Luna, and Harris Faulkner.
In a statement, Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt underscored the alignment of values among Trump supporters and criticized Harris, welcoming all Americans who share their goals.
