**Nicky Jam Withdraws Trump Endorsement After Puerto Rico Insult**

Puerto Rican Dominican singer Nicky Jam, who previously endorsed former President Donald Trump, has withdrawn his support following derogatory remarks about Puerto Rico made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe. Hinchcliffe referred to the island as a "floating island of garbage" during a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, prompting the singer to revoke his endorsement.

"Never in my life did I think that just one month later a comedian would show up and criticize my country, and speak poorly of my country. And for that, I revoke any support for Donald Trump and I'm stepping aside from any kind of political situation. Puerto Rico is to be respected," Nicky Jam, known by his real name Nick Rivera Caminero, declared in a video posted on social media.

Nicky Jam originally endorsed Trump in hopes that his policies would bolster economic opportunities for the Latino community. However, the disparaging comments about his homeland led to a change of heart. The artist also had a prior awkward moment with the former president, who accidentally misgendered him at a rally, calling him "she."

This incident has caught the attention of several high-profile Puerto Rican figures. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez praised Nicky Jam for his decision to withdraw support for Trump. Additionally, other prominent Puerto Rican artists have come out strongly against the comedian's remarks.

Bad Bunny, one of Puerto Rico's most famous cultural representatives, posted a video celebrating the beauty and history of the island, captioned with the word "garbage" to underscore his condemnation of Hinchcliffe's comments. Jennifer Lopez also announced her decision to actively participate in a campaign rally for Vice President Kamala Harris in Las Vegas this week.

Meanwhile, Anuel AA, another Puerto Rican singer who had backed Trump at a rally in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, has yet to comment on the controversial remarks made at the Madison Square Garden event.
