**New York Liberty to Celebrate Historic WNBA Championship with Grand Parade**

To honor the New York Liberty’s remarkable victory in clinching their first WNBA championship after nearly 30 years, the city is set to host a grand parade on Thursday. Featuring six floats, four double-decker buses, and an estimated 2,500 participants, the event is expected to draw massive crowds eager to celebrate the team’s 67-62 triumph over the Minnesota Lynx.

The highly-anticipated parade will kick off at 10 a.m., beginning along the "Canyon of Heroes"—a storied stretch of Broadway between Battery Place and City Hall in Manhattan’s Financial District. Spectators are advised to arrive by 9 a.m. to secure good viewing spots. Viewing areas will be accessible from Morris Street to Park Row on Broadway's east side and from Battery Place to Chambers Street on Broadway's west side, with additional accessible viewing set up at Zuccotti Park. The City Hall area will be restricted to the public.

City officials have planned extensive logistics to manage the influx of attendees and ensure smooth celebrations. A collection of 13 sanitation trucks, 36 mechanical brooms, 133 hand brooms, 130 backpack blowers, and over 350 workers are on standby to clean up the aftermath. Additionally, several streets will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 9 a.m., which includes sections of State Street, Battery Place, Little West Street, and West Street.

For those considering driving to the event, city officials strongly recommend against it due to the numerous road closures and lack of parking in the vicinity. Instead, public transportation is encouraged, though some service alterations will take place. The City Hall R/W station will bypass certain stops, while the Bowling Green 4/5 station will be reserved for accessibility accommodations. Additionally, MTA bus routes might be diverted.

Following the parade, a ticketed ceremony is scheduled at City Hall from noon to 1 p.m., where Mayor Eric Adams will present the team with the Key to the City. Later in the evening, a championship celebration will occur at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets for both events were made available to the public, but have since sold out.

This grand celebration will undoubtedly be a memorable occasion for the New York Liberty and their supporters, as the city unites to honor this historic athletic achievement.
