In a surprising turn of events, the Netherlands' Eurovision entry, Joost Klein, is facing an investigation by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) following an unexplained incident that resulted in his absence from the dress rehearsal on Friday, May 10th. As a result, Klein's rehearsals have been put on hold until further notice.

The incident occurred during a parade at the beginning of the rehearsal when Klein suddenly disappeared and failed to take the stage to perform his track, Europapa, 30 minutes later. This unexpected turn of events has raised questions about his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest final, which is scheduled to take place in Malmo, Sweden on Saturday.

The EBU released a statement saying, "The investigation into the incident with the Dutch artist in this year's Eurovision Song Contest is still ongoing." The statement further revealed that discussions are being held between the EBU and Avrotros, the Dutch participating broadcaster. In the meantime, Klein will not be performing in the dress rehearsal two, which is crucial as it is voted on by juries in the 37 participating countries. Instead, his performance from semi-final two will be utilized.

The EBU has not provided any additional details about the incident, and Avrotros, the Dutch broadcaster, has yet to comment on the matter. The uncertainty surrounding Klein's participation in the competition has left fans and Eurovision enthusiasts eagerly awaiting further updates.

In a separate incident, British entry Olly Alexander experienced a slight wardrobe malfunction during his Eurovision performance on Tuesday, May 7th. However, Alexander took it in stride, acknowledging that such mishaps can happen in live television.

As the Eurovision Song Contest final approaches, with 26 countries vying for the top spot, the focus remains on the ongoing investigation surrounding Joost Klein and the ultimate decision regarding his participation in the highly anticipated event. Updates are expected in due course as the EBU continues to look into the unexplained incident.
