NBCUniversal Implements Privacy Policy Changes for Targeted Advertising
ICARO Media Group
The media conglomerate aims to provide a more relevant online experience while ensuring the protection of user privacy.
The updated policy highlights the use of personal information by online ad partners to assist with advertising activities across different businesses. This collaboration may be considered "selling" or "sharing/processing" for targeted online advertising under applicable law.
To address the concerns of residents in specific states, NBCUniversal has included a 'Your Rights' section in its Privacy Policy. Users located in these states are given the option to opt-out of the sale or sharing/processing of their personal information for targeted ads. This includes opting out of the use of cookies, device identifiers, and associated personal information for advertising purposes.
For residents of the listed states, managing preferences is made effortless. By switching the "Allow Sale of My Personal Info or Sharing/Processing for Targeted Ads" toggle off (grey color) and clicking "Confirm My Choice," users can successfully opt out of these targeted advertising practices.
However, it is important to note that these choices are specific to the brand's website or app on the particular browser or device being used. Users must make the Manage Preference choices on each site/app and each browser/device they utilize to access the services. Additionally, if cookies are cleared, users must renew their opt-out choice.
NBCUniversal acknowledges that if users choose to opt out of targeted advertising, they may still see ads, but they may be less relevant or solely based on first-party information.
To ensure transparency and facilitate user control, NBCUniversal also provides an Opt-Out Form for recipients of targeted advertising via email. Users can opt out of the use of their email and any related personal information for targeted advertising activities by completing the form.
It is worth mentioning that these changes do not apply to residents of states not listed in the 'Your Rights' section of NBCUniversal's Privacy Policy. Users outside of these states will not have this opt-out option available to them.
By implementing these privacy policy changes, NBCUniversal aims to strike a balance between personalized advertising and user privacy. These updates reflect the company's commitment to comply with relevant privacy regulations and increase transparency in its advertising practices.
As always, NBCUniversal reminds users that the site and products offered are for entertainment purposes only and do not involve gambling. The media giant also encourages individuals with gambling problems to seek assistance from the helpline provided.
