A recent national poll conducted by Florida Atlantic University's PolCom Lab revealed interesting findings regarding the hypothetical matchup between the Republican nominee, Donald Trump, and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. The poll, which surveyed 997 U.S. registered voters from July 26 to July 27, showed Harris leading Trump by a margin of 44% to 43% when independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was added as a third choice, receiving 8% of the votes.

Interestingly, when likely voters were asked about their preferred party in the fall elections for U.S. House of Representatives, Democrats held a lead over Republicans by 5 points, with 47% favoring the Democratic party and 42% favoring the Republican party. This marks a shift from the previous week's poll results, where Republicans held a slight lead over Democrats among likely voters.

The survey also highlighted the favorable opinions of voters towards Harris, with 53% viewing her favorably compared to 44% unfavorably, resulting in a net favorability rating of 9 percentage points. Among Democrats, an overwhelming 87% viewed Harris favorably, showcasing strong support within the party.

In contrast, Trump was viewed favorably by 49% of voters and unfavorably by 50%, indicating a net negative impression of 1 point. The poll also captured the emotional reactions of voters towards Harris taking Biden's place after he stepped aside, revealing a mix of emotions including excitement, joy, fear, and sadness among different political affiliations.

Overall, the latest survey results suggest a competitive three-way matchup between Harris, Trump, and Kennedy, with Harris holding a slight lead over Trump. The findings provide insights into voter sentiments and preferences as the election season progresses.
