**NASCAR Hero Takes to the Skies for Hurricane Helene Rescue Mission**

Former NASCAR driver and Busch series champion Greg Biffle has transitioned from the racetrack to the sky in a bid to assist his North Carolina neighbors affected by Hurricane Helene. Biffle engaged in a dramatic helicopter rescue operation after spotting a stranded individual signaling for help with a mirror.

Biffle, known affectionately as "The Biff," has been flying from his Mooresville shop to the remote mountainous regions where dozens remain isolated. One notable rescue involved a man who cleverly caught Biffle's attention by reflecting sunlight towards the helicopter with a large mirror, a method Biffle praised for its effectiveness amidst the surrounding chaos.

Footage of the rescue reveals Biffle, 54, piloting his private helicopter over the mountains when the mirror’s glint captured his attention from over a mile away. Biffle reported witnessing extensive devastation, with roads and bridges washed away across hundreds of miles. “You can't get eyes on it and so you can't see how bad it is,” Biffle told NewsNation.

In the video, Biffle maneuvers through difficult terrain, including uneven ground and narrow landing strips cluttered with power lines, to reach Helene's victims in a forest clearing. Despite challenging conditions, Biffle made six landing attempts before successfully delivering crucial supplies such as chainsaws, EpiPens, insulin, chicken food, baby formula, gasoline, and sandwiches.

Biffle's helicopter, known for its ability to access tighter spaces compared to traditional aircraft, has been pivotal in these rescue operations. “Trees, canyons, power lines. Glad this little beast of a helicopter can make it to areas unreachable by larger aircraft,” Biffle noted on Instagram.

Additionally, Biffle has been instrumental in providing SpaceX Starlink units to restore communication capabilities in devastated areas. The Starlink technology is aimed at aiding communities with disrupted phone and internet services, which have left thousands without means to contact loved ones, with hundreds still missing.

Helene has proven to be the most catastrophic storm to hit the United States since Hurricane Katrina. As of Tuesday, the death toll stands at 200, with at least 600 people missing across six states. Biffle’s efforts form part of Operation Airdrop, a relief initiative spanning North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.
