### Targeted Attack in Boulder Leaves Several Injured at Pro-Israel Event
In a shocking incident in Boulder, Colorado, a man reportedly hurled petrol bombs at participants of a pro-Israel event, prompting an FBI investigation into what they describe as a "targeted terror attack." The attack took place during a walk designed to raise awareness for Israeli hostages in Gaza.
Police received reports around 1:26 pm local time that individuals were being set on fire. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, discovering multiple victims with injuries consistent with burns. According to Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn, the severity of injuries ranged from minor to very serious, with some victims being rushed to hospitals. At least one individual is reported to be in critical condition.
A male suspect has been taken into custody without incident after witnesses indicated his involvement. The area around Pearl Street, where the event took place, has been cordoned off as it is deemed unsafe. Chief Redfearn mentioned that law enforcement is also dealing with a vehicle of interest related to the case.
The FBI's Kash Patel confirmed that federal agents are collaborating with local authorities on the investigation. Despite the severity of the situation, Boulder's police chief refrained from labeling the incident as a terror attack immediately, although Colorado Governor Jared Polis called it a "terror attack" in a Facebook post. Polis expressed that it was "unfathomable that the Jewish community is facing another terror attack here."
A joint statement from Boulder’s Jewish community described the incident as involving "an incendiary device" thrown at walkers participating in the Run for Their Lives event on Pearl Street. The statement extended sympathies to those affected, alongside wishes for the injured to have a speedy recovery.
Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser suggested that the incident appears to be a hate crime, emphasizing that "violence is never the answer to settling differences." He noted that the group involved convenes weekly on Pearl Street to advocate for the release of hostages held by Hamas.
