NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Country music star Morgan Wallen's initial hearing, scheduled for Friday, has been postponed until August. Wallen is facing charges of throwing a chair from the rooftop of a six-story bar, allegedly endangering two police officers in the process.

Wallen's attorney, Worrick Robinson, described the case as "very complicated" and assured reporters that his client would attend the rescheduled hearing on August 15. Wallen had waived his right to be present at the original hearing.

According to an arrest affidavit, the chair Wallen is accused of throwing off the roof of Chief's bar on April 7 came dangerously close to hitting the officers. Witnesses corroborated the incident, with some stating that Wallen picked up the chair, threw it off the roof, and laughed about it.

Robinson refrained from expressing his belief regarding Wallen's actions but referred to a statement issued by the singer. In the statement, Wallen accepted "responsibility" for his behavior and acknowledged that he was "not proud" of it. Although the statement did not include an apology, it mentioned Wallen's intention to make amends and reach out to law enforcement.

Despite these legal issues, Wallen, known as one of the biggest names in contemporary country music, continues with his stadium tour. Presently performing in Nashville for a three-night event, including Friday and Saturday at Nissan Stadium, Wallen's professional career remains unaffected by the pending case.

It should be noted that this is not the first time Wallen has faced controversy. Earlier this year, he was indefinitely suspended from his label after a video surfaced of him using a racial slur. In 2020, he was arrested on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct following his removal from Kid Rock's bar in downtown Nashville.

The postponed hearing in August will determine the course of action for Wallen's recent chair-throwing incident, shedding more light on the complexities of the case and its potential consequences for the country music star.
