Country sensation Morgan Wallen has spoken out in response to his recent arrest, expressing remorse for his actions. The 30-year-old star was taken into custody on April 7 after allegedly throwing a chair off the rooftop of a Nashville bar.
In a post on his official account, Wallen addressed the incident for the first time, stating, "I needed to take a moment to make things right with the people I've affected. I'm deeply disappointed in my behavior, and I'm ready to face the consequences." The singer also mentioned reaching out to Nashville law enforcement, his family, and the staff at Chief's Bar, where the incident took place.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department provided details of the incident, stating that Wallen was arrested on three felony charges. This occurred just days after the start of his 2024 leg of the One Night at a Time world tour. Despite the setback, Wallen intends to continue his tour, with his next performance scheduled for Saturday in Oxford, Mississippi.
Eyewitness accounts from two police officers revealed that they saw Wallen throw the chair from the rooftop of Chief's Bar, a six-story establishment on Broadway. He was promptly apprehended and charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
According to court documents obtained by ABC News via ABC Nashville affiliate WKRN, the incident took place shortly before 11 p.m. on Sunday night. Officers stationed outside Chief's Bar witnessed the chair falling from above, narrowly missing them by approximately three feet. Reports and video footage confirmed that Wallen was laughing after the incident.
Wallen is set to appear in court for his scheduled dates on May 2-3 in Nashville. While facing the consequences of his actions, he has reiterated his respect for law enforcement and expressed gratitude for their tireless efforts in keeping people safe.
It remains to be seen how Wallen's arrest will impact his career and public image, but for now, he is determined to continue his tour and take responsibility for his behavior.
