A missing pastor, Warren Beard, 53, was tragically discovered deceased in his car submerged in the Des Plaines River near Chicago on Tuesday night, authorities confirmed. Beard had been reported missing since July 2, and his last known location was in Joliet, Illinois, as per the Chicago Police Department.

Officials revealed that video footage from July 2 captured Beard's vehicle passing through a gate and continuing underneath a raised drawbridge before crashing into the river. Rockdale officials, during a press conference on Tuesday, informed that the vehicle was ultimately located underwater with the assistance of sonar technology. The road where the vehicle was last observed had been closed, authorities noted.

The Will County Coroner's Office reported that Beard's body was discovered approximately 150 yards west of Brandon Road in Rockdale, submerged in the Des Plaines River. An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday to determine the cause and manner of his death, although the results have not yet been publicly released.

The news of Beard's tragic demise has left the community in shock and mourning. Pastor Chenier Alston of the New Israelite Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago expressed his deep sorrow, describing Beard as an incredible individual and one of the greatest men he had ever known. Alston emphasized the need for answers, acknowledging the overwhelming pain felt by the church and its members.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Illinois State Police, who are diligently working to uncover any additional information surrounding Beard's untimely death.
