In a heart-wrenching incident during Hurricane Beryl, a "miracle baby" managed to survive two days in a ditch before being discovered by a vigilant trucker on the roadside. The discovery came a day after the child's 4-year-old brother was tragically found dead nearby, according to Louisiana Sheriff Gary "Stitch" Guillory.

The resilient baby, who was found crawling on the side of the highway, appeared to be in good condition despite suffering numerous bug bites, Sheriff Guillory revealed during a press conference in Lake Charles. "We consider this 1-year-old our miracle baby because he managed to stay alive," Guillory expressed his relief. "Thankfully, that trucker spotted him just in time."

Authorities had been actively searching for the missing 1-year-old after locating the lifeless body of his 4-year-old brother floating in a lake behind an Interstate 10 welcome center near the Texas state line. The cause of the 4-year-old's death is still pending autopsy results.

Investigations revealed that the 4-year-old and his mother, Aaliyah Jack, 25, of Lake Charles, were last seen together with the 1-year-old brother. Jack was subsequently arrested in Meridian, Mississippi, over 350 miles away from the incident site. Meridian police confirmed her arrest on Tuesday but stated that she was taken into custody without her 1-year-old child.

Due to fears that the 1-year-old had also met a tragic fate, authorities had planned to search the water where the body of his brother was discovered. However, their plans took a dramatic turn when a truck driver alerted 911 after spotting the baby.

The sheriff's news release confirmed that upon the deputies' arrival, the child was positively identified as the missing 1-year-old. Meanwhile, Jack is set to be extradited to Louisiana to face charges of failure to report a missing child. The judge in charge of the case has set her bond at $300,000, as announced by Guillory.

This astonishing "miracle baby" story serves as a glimmer of hope amidst the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Beryl. The community and authorities have come together, grateful for the truck driver's sharp eyes and thankful that this young child's life was spared during such a challenging time.
