In a surprising turn of events, Mike Perry has fired back at Conor McGregor after the latter 'dismissed' him from the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) following Perry's defeat to Jake Paul.
Perry, who suffered a crushing sixth-round loss to Paul in their headline bout, asserted that McGregor does not have the authority to fire him, as both fighters are owners of BKFC. Speaking at a post-fight press conference, Perry confidently urged McGregor to face Paul instead, insinuating that the outcome would be worse than McGregor's lucrative match against Floyd Mayweather.
"We're both owners of BKFC, so he can't fire me," Perry stated defiantly, highlighting his claim to the ownership of the Bare Knuckle company. Mocking McGregor's comment, he challenged McGregor by saying, "I lost to Jake Paul, why don't you go fight Jake Paul?... I think it'll be worse than Conor McGregor vs Mayweather."
However, McGregor stood his ground and responded to Perry's comments in a now-deleted social media post. The Irish fighter declared that Perry holds no ownership in BKFC and accused him of having a minute stake in the social media video app, Thriller. McGregor made it clear that Perry's representation in the world of bare-knuckle fighting was negligible and that he was no longer associated with the promotion.
Perry's career in BKFC had seen an impressive revival, amassing five notable victories, including wins against Michael 'Venom' Page, Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, and Thiago Alves. Yet, despite his success, McGregor maintained that Perry had been released from the promotion.
The feud between Perry and McGregor has now taken center stage, captivating fans and generating speculation about a potential clash between the two fighters. As both individuals possess formidable skills in the realm of combat sports, their hypothetical bout could be an electrifying spectacle for fight enthusiasts.
It remains to be seen how this contentious situation will unfold but, for now, the attention is fixed on the verbal sparring between Mike Perry and Conor McGregor, fueling anticipation for what could be a thrilling showdown down the line.
