Midnight Society Severs Ties with Dr Disrespect Following Allegations of Twitch Ban Involving a Minor

In a surprising turn of events, Midnight Society, the game studio co-founded by popular streamer Dr Disrespect, has announced the termination of its relationship with him. The decision comes in light of allegations that Dr Disrespect, whose real name is Guy Beahm, was banned from Twitch in 2020 due to inappropriate messages exchanged with a minor.
The news broke last Friday when a former Twitch employee, Cody Conners, took to a social media platform to disclose the reason behind Dr Disrespect's mysterious ban. Although Conners did not explicitly name Beahm, it was widely assumed that he was referring to the popular streamer.
Midnight Society reacted swiftly to the allegations, expressing their commitment to maintaining their principles and standards as a studio and as individuals. In a statement posted on Twitter, the studio announced their decision to cut ties with Beahm, stating, "While these facts are difficult to hear and even more difficult to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all individuals involved."
Robert Bowling, co-founder of Midnight Society, briefly commented on the situation, confirming that he was aware of the allegations and dealing with them. Meanwhile, Dr Disrespect was live-streaming Elden Ring when the news broke. He expressed the possibility of taking a break from streaming and mentioned a potential departure from Midnight Society.
The allegations made by Conners were later corroborated by a report from The Verge, in which two former Twitch employees shared their accounts of the incident. According to the report, Beahm used Twitch's now-defunct Whisper chat function to exchange messages with a minor and initiate plans to meet up at TwitchCon. It was also revealed that a significant amount of time had passed between the messages being sent and their reporting to Twitch's moderation team.
Beahm, on his part, vehemently denied any wrongdoing on social media, mentioning that no wrongdoing was found and emphasizing his settlement with Twitch. He continues to stream on YouTube, despite the ongoing controversy.
While Twitch and YouTube have not officially responded to the situation, Midnight Society's decision to sever ties with Dr Disrespect sends a clear message about their commitment to maintaining their principles and ensuring a safe environment for their team and community.
IGN has reached out to Twitch, YouTube, Beahm, Conners, and Bowling for further comment on the matter. The streaming community awaits their responses as this story continues to unfold.
