**Mayor Eric Adams Seeks Unexpected Ally As He Faces Federal Bribery Charges**

In an intriguing twist, Mayor Eric Adams hinted at welcoming support from former President Donald Trump amidst his ongoing battle with significant federal bribery accusations. While making this statement, Adams also subtly revealed that he has added a former Trump White House lawyer to his defense team.

Mayor Adams expressed his openness to support from all Americans when asked about Trump’s comments regarding Adams' stance on the migrant crisis in New York City. "I welcome support from every American," said Adams during his press conference, affirming his readiness to receive backing from all sides, regardless of political affiliations.

The backdrop to Adams’ remarks includes the explosive claims made by Trump, suggesting that Adams was targeted for his outspoken views on the migrant situation and implicit criticism of President Joe Biden. Trump had previously suggested that Adams would face federal charges, a prediction he shared during a recent press conference at Trump Tower.

The federal indictment against Adams, unveiled last week, accuses him of defrauding taxpayers of $10 million in campaign funds and taking $123,000 in bribes via luxurious travel perks from Turkish officials and nationals. Adams pleaded not guilty to all charges, which include bribery, conspiracy, and wire fraud, with his next court appearance slated for Wednesday.

Adding to the complexity of his defense, Adams has enlisted John Bash, a conservative attorney appointed by Trump in 2017 as US Attorney for the Western District of Texas, to his legal team. Bash, who now works at the law firm Quinn Emanuel alongside Adams' trial attorney Alex Spiro, brings a diverse legal background, having previously clerked for Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Antonin Scalia. Bash also served in President Obama’s Justice Department from 2012-17, arguing ten cases before the US Supreme Court.

In another strategic legal move, Adams has also added William "Bill" Burck to his defense roster. Burck, who once represented Trump's former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, has an extensive background, including serving as a top lawyer in George W. Bush’s White House, and currently sits on the Fox Corporation's board of directors.

As Adams prepares to confront the charges in court, his unorthodox combination of legal representation from prominent figures across the political spectrum underscores the high stakes and political intricacies of his federal case.
