**Maycee Barber Breaks Silence Following Sudden UFC Vegas 107 Bout Cancellation**
Maycee Barber has spoken out for the first time since the abrupt cancellation of her UFC Vegas 107 headliner against Erin Blanchfield. Barber’s fight was called off at the last minute on Saturday night, just moments before she was scheduled to walk to the Octagon.
Blanchfield revealed she was informed in the locker room by UFC executive Hunter Campbell that Barber had experienced a seizure right before the scheduled fight. Barber later took to Instagram to address the situation, posting photos from her hospital bed but refraining from confirming or denying the seizure.
"Not what I had planned for a Sunday post. Thank you to everyone for the prayers and support," Barber wrote. "I owe an apology to UFC, Mick Maynard, Dana White, Sean Shelby, and Erin Blanchfield. P.S.: My life is not messy; this is just a bad hand. We will get to the bottom of it all and be back."
The top-ranked flyweight contender's absence is particularly noteworthy as Barber had missed weight for the fight by half a pound, weighing in at 126.5 pounds. The situation further fueled the rivalry between the fighters, dating back to their originally scheduled bout in 2021, which was also called off after Barber suffered an ankle injury.
In response to the cancellation, Blanchfield criticized Barber, claiming, "She needs to look at another division. She needs to fix her life. She needs to fix herself. I think she's a mess in every aspect of her entire life."
Barber has faced multiple health issues over the past year and has been away from the Octagon for 14 months. Despite these setbacks, she remains on a six-fight winning streak, with her last fight occurring in March 2024 against Katlyn Cerminara, which she won via unanimous decision at UFC 299.
