In a massive display of solidarity with Hamas, approximately 30,000 pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside the White House on Saturday, marking eight months since the start of Israel's war in Gaza. The demonstration also included strong criticism of the Biden administration for its support of the Jewish state.

Organized by various activist groups, including the Answer Coalition, the protesters arrived at the Executive Mansion around noon, raising their voices against what they viewed as President Biden's failure to enforce a "red line" during Israel's invasion of Rafah. A striking "two-mile long" red banner was unveiled by some members of the Answer Coalition, bearing a list of over 40,000 Palestinians who they claim were "martyred" by Israel since October 7.

Social media footage showcased some protesters igniting smoke bomb flares and tossing them onto the White House lawn. The demonstration further escalated when the Andrew Jackson statue located outside the White House was vandalized, with phrases like "Free Gaza" and "Boycott Israel Products" sprayed onto it.

The Israeli invasion of Gaza, which began as retaliation for Hamas' massacre of 1,200 Israeli citizens on October 7, sparked the ongoing conflict in the region. Anticipating the potentially violent nature of these protests, additional safety measures, including anti-scale fencing, were put in place around the White House compound.

Answer Coalition declared on its website that the protest aimed to draw a symbolic "red line" that the Biden administration seemed unable to define. They demanded an immediate ceasefire, an end to the siege on Gaza, the release of all Palestinian prisoners, and an end to the occupation of Palestine.

These pro-Hamas protests have been an ongoing challenge for President Biden and pro-Israel Democrats throughout the country. Activists aligned with the far-left Hamas movement are planning a show of force at the National Democrats' August convention in Chicago.

The demonstration outside the White House served as a reminder of the deep divisions regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict within the United States, and the challenges the Biden administration faces in balancing its support for Israel with calls for peace and justice from the pro-Palestinian community.
