**Manhattan Stabbing Spree Leaves Two Dead, One Critically Injured**
In a shocking turn of events, New York City police have apprehended a man suspected of carrying out a series of deadly stabbings in Manhattan on Monday morning. The seemingly random attacks have left two individuals dead and one woman critically wounded.
The chilling violence commenced at approximately 8:20 a.m. when a 36-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the abdomen at a construction site on West 19th Street where he was working. Around two hours later, a second victim, a 68-year-old man, was stabbed multiple times on East 30th Street, resulting in his death.
A third assault took place later the same morning, just before 11 a.m., at 42nd Street and First Avenue in midtown. The victim, a woman, is currently in critical condition at a local hospital after being attacked with a knife, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD).
Authorities have recovered two bloody kitchen knives believed to be connected to the attacks. During a press briefing on Monday, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny reported that the attacks appeared to be random and that no additional suspects were believed to be involved.
The 51-year-old suspect, who resides at the Bellevue men's shelter on East 30th Street, was detained at 46th Street and First Avenue. Police officials stated that the victims seemed to have been chosen arbitrarily as the suspect allegedly approached them and began attacking with knives.
Mayor Eric Adams condemned the incidences, citing the failure of both the criminal justice and mental health systems in protecting New Yorkers. "These random attacks left two innocent victims dead and another one fighting for her life," Kenny stated, highlighting the grave nature of the incidents.
The suspect is currently held at a police precinct as the investigation continues.
