### Major Vehicle Recalls Announced by NHTSA, Affecting Thousands of Units

In a recent announcement, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) disclosed several recalls affecting a diverse array of vehicles. Owners are encouraged to stay informed and check if their vehicles are part of these recalls by consulting the NHTSA or USA TODAY's automotive recall databases.

Among the first to be listed is Ford, which is recalling a total of 6,212 model year 2024 Mustangs. According to the NHTSA, these vehicles have an issue where the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) may fail to illuminate during startup or while driving. This defect could lead to serious safety risks as essential warning indicators and vehicle speed information might not be visible to the driver. In compliance with federal safety standards, Ford plans to update the instrument panel cluster software.

Ford also announced another recall affecting 24,950 of its vehicles. This time, the Tailgate Park Assist Sensor Interface Module (TPASIM) is the culprit, where water intrusion could cause the rearview camera's image to intermittently display or appear entirely blue or black. An impaired rearview camera reduces rear visibility, posing a heightened risk of accidents.

Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, is facing its own issues with a recall of 33,777 model year 2025 Ram 1500 vehicles. The NHTSA states that the front wheel hub encoder rings in these trucks may be damaged, potentially disabling the electronic stability control system. Disabling this system can significantly elevate the risk of a crash, prompting Stellantis to inspect and replace affected parts.

Mack Trucks has also issued a significant recall involving 60,450 units of its Anthem, Granite, TerraPro, and Pinnacle models. The problem lies within the Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units (ECU), which may not correctly process commands or could cease functioning due to electrical noise and low signal on the power line carrier. Reduced functionality in safety systems depending on these ECUs can lead to an increased crash risk.

Finally, Volvo is recalling a substantial number of trucks, totaling 126,649 units, also equipped with Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units (ECU). Similar to the Mack Trucks' issue, these ECUs may exhibit failures due to electrical noise and low signal issues, necessitating a reprogramming of the ECU software.

Vehicle owners are urged to stay vigilant and seek out information to ascertain if their vehicles are impacted by these recalls.
