**Legal Expert Criticizes Trump's Threatened Lawsuit Against CBS Over Harris Interview**

Fox News legal analyst Jonathan Turley has labeled former President Donald Trump’s threat of a lawsuit against CBS as "entirely unnecessary." The controversy arose following Vice President Kamala Harris's 60 Minutes interview broadcast on October 7, which Trump's campaign claims was "deceptively edited."

Turley, a George Washington University Law School professor, argues that the lawsuit "would be legally groundless" and unlikely to succeed. His concerns come after Trump publicly criticized the network during The Dan Bongino Show. The former president's campaign has since demanded the release of the full interview transcript, arguing that key portions were omitted to soften Harris's responses.

Karoline Leavitt, Trump's campaign press secretary, has been vocal about what she described as a "word salad" response from Harris that was allegedly edited to her advantage. Leavitt called for transparency from CBS, questioning what the network and Harris might be hiding. Promoting the full release of the interview's transcript has garnered significant public support, with a Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll showing 85 percent of registered voters favoring its release.

On social media platform Truth Social, Trump accused CBS and Harris’s campaign of committing a “major Campaign Finance Violation,” demanding an investigation. The former president also insinuated that the interview constituted "Election Interference and Fraud."

Despite these strong accusations, Turley contends that pursuing a lawsuit will only undermine Trump’s criticisms of media bias. He notes that the media is permitted to engage in selective editing, and any legal action would appear to be more about harassment than seeking justice.

Turley concludes that public and market forces, rather than lawsuits, will hold the media accountable. He emphasizes that although he perceives a bias in current mainstream media, including CBS, a neutral and objective press is crucial in today's society.

CBS has yet to respond publicly to the specific demands for the unedited transcript, and Trump's campaign remains adamant that further investigation and transparency are needed. As the situation develops, the debate over media accountability and political bias continues to intensify.
