**Lawmakers Urge Congress to Reconvene for Hurricane Helene Relief**

Senator Rick Scott joined a growing group of legislators from hurricane-affected states, urging Congress to cut short its October recess to authorize additional disaster relief funding. His appeal follows significant damage caused by Hurricane Helene.

President Biden indicated his intention to request Congress to pass a supplemental funding package to aid the storm-impacted regions. This announcement came during a Monday press conference but has yet to prompt any definitive action from congressional leaders.

Despite Congress approving a temporary federal funding bill last week, which included three months of financing for FEMA's Disaster Aid Fund at current levels, the devastation left by Hurricane Helene has amplified calls for further assistance.

Notably, the call to action has gained bipartisan support. Democrats, such as Nickel and Representative Jared Moskowitz of Florida, quickly echoed the president's sentiments, advocating for an urgent congressional session. Republican Senator Rick Scott also released a statement pushing for the Senate to "immediately reconvene" to address the need for an aid package.

The pressure on Congress to respond swiftly to the crisis continues to mount as communities struggle to recover from the hurricane's impact. Time will tell if congressional leadership will heed these urgent pleas and return from recess to provide the necessary relief.
