**Larry Hogan Reiterates Opposition to Trump, Focuses on Bipartisanship in Senate Race**

Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has once again clarified that he will not be supporting Donald Trump in the upcoming Republican presidential nomination. Despite Trump's endorsement of Hogan's Senate bid in June, Hogan remains steadfast in his decision, a stance consistently held since he first refused to vote for Trump in 2016 and again in 2020.

During an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation," Hogan revealed that he hadn't cast his vote for either Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden during those years. Instead, in 2016, he wrote in his own father, former Maryland Representative Lawrence Hogan, and in 2020, he wrote in former President Ronald Reagan. Hogan emphasized that his focus lies beyond party lines, stating, "I'm concerned about the red, white, and blue and willing to put country over party, and I'm hoping that the voters will be willing to do the same thing."

Hogan, a Republican, is currently contending against Democrat Angela Alsobrooks, the county executive of Prince George's County, in a bid to become the first Maryland Republican to win a Senate race since Charles McC. Mathias in 1980. This tightly contested Senate race is one of the key battles that could shift the balance of power in Congress.

The interview also brought up Trump's recent controversial statement calling Vice President Kamala Harris "mentally disabled." Hogan condemned the remarks, calling them "outrageous and unacceptable" and offering a sharp rebuke not only on the grounds of respect for the vice president but also for people with mental disabilities. "I've said for years that Trump's divisive rhetoric is something that we could do without. I think he's his own worst enemy," Hogan remarked.

In the past, Trump has labeled Hogan as a RINO - Republican in name only - specifically criticizing him for the lockdown measures he put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. The former president's team further attacked Hogan earlier this year when Hogan refrained from defending Trump following his criminal conviction. Despite these rifts, Hogan remains dedicated to what he sees as vital for the nation's political health.

Addressing his alignment and commitment to the two-party system, despite prior affiliations with the third-party No Labels movement, Hogan stressed the importance of maintaining a competitive two-party dynamic. "I really believe a healthy and competitive two-party system is important for our country. I'm very concerned that I believe both parties are way off track from what their base core values used to be," he said.

Hogan concluded by reflecting on his career-long drive to find consensus and common ground for the good of the country, highlighting that these principles continue to be the foundation of his political endeavors.
