Preemptive evacuation measures have been put into effect in areas expected to be threatened by an upcoming flood, even with the peak of the disaster yet to come. Official statistics provided by the city administration have guided these assessments, with maps highlighting areas at risk in vibrant yellow and red colors based on potential water levels. Ukrainian sources suggest that "Kurganmashzavod," a prominent military equipment manufacturer in Russia, could be severely impacted by the forecasted flooding.

Kurganmashzavod takes pride in being the sole producer of new combat vehicles for infantry and landing forces in Russia. The facility's production line includes highly regarded units like BMP-3 and BMD-4, as well as the modernization of BMP-2 units fitted with "Berezhok" combat modules. Additionally, the factory manufactures other armored vehicles such as the "Rakushka" BTR-MD and the "Octopus." However, flooding forecasts predict that the location will be within the 11-12 meter mark, posing a significant risk to operations.

While exact flood predictions for Kurganmashzavod remain vague, local authorities in Kurgan maintain that only a favorable twist of nature could prevent disaster. The projected peak of the flood is April 14th, and it is conceivable that a catastrophic flood could deal a more detrimental blow to the Russian arms industry than any economic sanctions. In the event of such a flood, operations at Kurganmashzavod would likely come to a halt.

Initially established in 1950 as a repair station for tanks returning from the front lines, the Kurganmashzavod factory has evolved into a key producer of Russian military machinery. Its signature products include the renowned BMP series infantry combat vehicles widely used across various countries and the BMD series of airborne assault vehicles. The factory also specializes in producing the 2S25 Sprut-SD, a self-propelled tank destroyer, along with a diverse range of unique gear designed for challenging terrains.

Apart from its significance in the defense sector, Kurganmashzavod plays a pivotal role in Russia's industrial sector. The factory's production capabilities extend to civil engineering machinery and specialized tracked vehicles for snowy and swampy terrains. With regards to human resources, the facility employs a substantial workforce, though exact numbers fluctuate. From skilled laborers and technicians to engineers and administrative professionals, these individuals are indispensable to the factory's continuous success.

As the anticipated flood looms nearer, the fate of Kurganmashzavod remains uncertain. The potential shutdown of this crucial factory could have far-reaching implications for Russia's military production and defense capabilities. It is a situation that leaves both the local government and workforce on edge, hoping for a turn of events that could avert disaster and protect the future of this vital industrial facility.
