**Kenya Cancels Major Deals with Indian Billionaire Amid Fraud Allegations**

Kenyan President William Ruto has announced the cancellation of two significant agreements with Indian billionaire Gautam Adani following fraud charges against Adani by US prosecutors. In his state-of-the-nation address, President Ruto cited "new information provided by our investigative agencies and partner nations" as the basis for terminating the deals.

US prosecutors charged Mr. Adani, India's second-richest individual, with fraud, alleging his involvement in a $250 million bribery scheme designed to raise funds in the US. Representatives from the Adani Group have firmly rejected the allegations, labeling them as "baseless."

In a parliament session punctuated by loud cheers, Ruto declared, "In the face of undisputed evidence or credible information on corruption, I will not hesitate to take decisive action." The Adani Group was poised to invest $1.85 billion in a comprehensive upgrade of Kenya's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for a 30-year management contract. This included constructing a new runway and enhancing the passenger terminal. Furthermore, there was a $736 million agreement with Kenya's energy ministry to construct power lines.

The airport agreement, however, faced significant opposition within the country, triggering a strike among airport workers in September over fears of potential job losses. Energy Minister Opiyo Wandayi, addressing a parliamentary committee, maintained that there was no corruption or bribery in the power line procurement process.

Reiterating his commitment to combat corruption, President Ruto assured that his administration is now actively seeking alternative partners to fulfill the airport and energy projects.
