**Kansas Dominates No. 1 Spot as AP Rankings See Major Shake-Up**

Kansas continues to hold firm at the top of The Associated Press men's college basketball rankings, maintaining its No. 1 position, while the rest of the top 10 underwent significant changes. The Jayhawks secured 49 of the 61 first-place votes. UConn, holding the No. 2 position, received seven first-place votes, Gonzaga at No. 3 got two, and Auburn at No. 4 garnered three votes. Iowa State rose to complete the top five.

The shuffle in rankings began with No. 8 Alabama experiencing an 87-78 loss to No. 6 Purdue, resulting in the Crimson Tide dropping six spots and the Boilermakers jumping seven positions. Losses suffered by Duke and Arizona further shook up the rankings. Duke, now at No. 12, fell six places after a 77-72 defeat to No. 9 Kentucky, a game that saw the Wildcats climb 10 spots into their first top-10 ranking of the season. Arizona, defeated by No. 19 Wisconsin 103-88, plummeted eight spots to No. 17; Wisconsin entered the rankings for the first time this season.

Kansas solidified its top position with victories over Michigan State and Oakland in the past week. UConn continued its strong campaign with a dominant 90-49 win over Le Moyne. Elsewhere, Gonzaga crushed UMass Lowell, Auburn secured a win against Kent State, and Iowa State beat Kansas City by a substantial margin of 26 points. No. 7 Houston rebounded from a 74-69 loss to Auburn by decisively defeating Louisiana.

Wisconsin, having restocked its roster after an early exit in last season's NCAA tournament, made headlines with a commanding performance over previously top-10 ranked Arizona. John Tonje led the Badgers, falling just two points short of the school record with a 41-point game, contributing to Wisconsin's dominant victory and a passionate postgame speech from coach Greg Gard.

Joining Wisconsin in the rankings is No. 25 Illinois, moving into the top 25 after a 66-54 win over Oakland. Conversely, Ole Miss dropped out of the top 25 despite victories over South Alabama and Colorado State, and Ohio State fell from No. 21 following a 78-64 loss to No. 23 Texas A&M.

The biggest ranking drops came from Arizona, Alabama, and Duke, while Kentucky saw the most significant jump. In terms of conferences, the Southeastern Conference led with seven teams in the rankings, followed by the Big 12 with six teams, the Big Ten with five, the Big East with four, the Atlantic Coast Conference with two, and the West Coast Conference with one.
