### Kamala Harris Intensifies Criticism of Trump in Final Election Push
WASHINGTON - In the final stretch before Election Day, Vice President Kamala Harris is amplifying her critique of former President Donald Trump, targeting him as a significant threat while also promoting her vision and policies for the future, according to four aides familiar with her campaign strategy. This dual approach is crafted to capture the attention of undecided voters and galvanize her existing supporters.
Harris' intensified strategy has already been set in motion. On Wednesday, during a town hall, she labeled Trump a "fascist." She has participated in numerous discussions with Liz Cheney, who has been outspoken against Trump following her role on the House committee that investigated the January 6 attack. Furthermore, on Thursday, Harris made an impromptu speech addressing claims made by former Trump chief of staff John Kelly that Trump had praised Adolf Hitler’s generals.
On Tuesday, Harris is scheduled to deliver a significant speech at Ellipse park, notable as the location where Trump made his address prior to the Capitol riot on January 6. Democratic pollster Cornell Belcher highlighted the strategic nature of Harris’ campaign, comparing it to traditional methods of political attack aimed at reinforcing the necessity for change.
However, some Democrats express concerns that Harris' campaign might be overly focused on criticizing Trump rather than making a compelling affirmative case for her presidency. Ashley Etienne, Harris' former vice presidential communications director, emphasized the need for Harris to discuss her plans more thoroughly, especially when addressing what makes her the right leader for the current moment.
Harris' campaign insists it is not neglecting her policy priorities. On social media, she posted a list of 14 objectives she aims to achieve if elected, including tax cuts, strengthening Medicare, restoring reproductive rights, and advancing gun safety laws.
This Friday, Harris is slated to give a keynote speech on reproductive freedom in Houston, flanked by individuals impacted by state-level abortion bans post-Roe v. Wade. Campaign reps underline that her focus on Trump is partly a tactic to draw contrasts which they believe will resonate with undecided voters.
Political experts like Pete Giangreco argue Harris' message on democracy serves dual purposes—attracting conservative votes away from Trump while mobilizing sporadic Democratic voters. The upcoming speech at the Ellipse park aims to reiterate the turbulent era of Trump’s presidency, particularly January 6, and to outline her vision for the nation’s future should she be elected.
