Since President Joe Biden announced his exit from the race, the campaign has raised an impressive $126 million.

Jen O'Malley Dillon, chair of the Harris campaign, highlighted three main factors contributing to Harris' strong position. Firstly, Harris enjoys significant support among core Democratic constituencies such as Black, Hispanic, and young voters. This well-documented support could play a crucial role in securing victories in key battleground states.

Secondly, Harris has an opportunity to expand the Democrats' growing advantage with college-educated voters. O'Malley Dillon emphasized that Harris's net favorability among white college-educated voters is 19 percentage points higher than that of Trump. Additionally, Harris's appeal to undecided voters presents a unique advantage for her campaign.

After Biden dropped out of the race, Harris quickly secured enough Democratic National Committee delegates, making her the presumptive Democratic nominee and receiving widespread support from the party establishment. However, it is crucial for Harris to define her candidacy amid attacks from Republicans and prove her ability to defeat Trump.

O'Malley Dillon highlighted Harris's ability to energize the Democratic base, citing impressive net approval ratings. Harris outperforms Trump by 54 percentage points among Black voters, 25 points among young voters, 21 points among women voters, and 30 points among Asian American and Pacific Islander voters. Harris also holds an advantage over Trump among undecided, independent, and skeptical Latino voters.

Expanding beyond the Democratic base, Harris aims to appeal to suburban voters who were turned off by Trump in previous elections. These voters, consisting of Democrats, independents, and some Republicans, played a significant role in Democrats' strong performances in 2020 and the 2022 midterms.

To secure the necessary 270 electoral votes, the Harris campaign is focusing on seven critical battleground states: Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada. While recent polls show Trump narrowly ahead, O'Malley Dillon believes that Harris's advantages with young, Black, and Latino voters will be instrumental in achieving victory.

The fundraising success of Harris's campaign is remarkable. The $126 million raised since Biden's exit includes an astonishing $81 million within the first 24 hours, making it the largest one-day fundraising haul in history. The campaign has received contributions from 1.4 million donors, and 64% of them are first-time contributors for the 2024 election cycle.

The campaign also boasts the addition of 74,000 new volunteers since Harris's announcement of her bid for the presidency. Harris has inherited a robust campaign infrastructure from Biden, including 250 coordinated offices across the key battleground states.

O'Malley Dillon acknowledged that the upcoming campaign will be closely contested, but expressed confidence in Vice President Harris's ability to secure victory.
