According to recent opinion polls conducted after the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in Philadelphia, the Democratic candidate is leading in the popular vote. Six different surveys indicate that Harris has a lead ranging from two to five percentage points, although some results fall within the margin of error.

During the intense exchange between Harris and Trump on Tuesday, various topics were fiercely debated, including abortion, illegal immigration, and rally attendance. A flash poll conducted by CNN just after the debate revealed that 63 percent of viewers believed Harris emerged as the victor, while Trump received support from 37 percent.

The post-debate polls not only contributed to Harris' popularity among viewers but also impacted her odds of victory in the November election. Many leading bookmakers now consider her the favorite candidate.

One of the surveys, conducted by Morning Consult on September 11, involving 3,317 likely voters, showed Harris leading with 50 percent of the vote compared to Trump's 45 percent. The survey had a margin of error of two percentage points.

Another poll by Ipsos for Reuters, which surveyed 1,405 registered voters over September 11-12, indicated that Harris held a five-point lead with 47 percent of the vote, while Trump obtained 42 percent. The margin of error for this survey was three percent.

In a YouGov survey for Yahoo News, conducted from September 11 to 13, where 1,755 U.S. adults were polled, Harris led Trump by five percentage points, with 50 percent of the vote compared to 45 percent. The survey had a margin of error of 2.9 percent.

Notably, this recent YouGov/Yahoo News poll displayed a significant improvement for Harris compared to a previous survey conducted after the Democratic National Convention in August. In the August poll, Harris had a narrow lead of just one percentage point with 47 percent, while Trump trailed closely with 46 percent.

RMG Research, on behalf of The Napolitan Institute, surveyed 2,756 likely voters between September 9 and 12, showing Harris with a four-point lead. She obtained 51 percent of the vote, while Trump secured 47 percent.

Additionally, a Leger poll for The New York Post assessed 1,174 likely voters between September 10 and 11, indicating Harris had a three-point lead with 47 percent, while Trump received 44 percent. The survey had a margin of error of up to 2.72 percent.

A Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll of 1,952 likely voters on September 12 placed Harris in the lead by two points. She garnered 44 percent of the vote, while Trump received 42 percent. Eight percent of respondents remained undecided.

While these findings suggest a popular vote advantage for Harris, it's crucial to note that the outcome of the election could still be determined by the Electoral College system. This was evident in 2016 when Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but lost the overall election to Donald Trump.

Representatives from the campaigns of both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump were contacted for comment by Newsweek via email on Saturday, outside of regular office hours.

In an analysis by FiveThirtyEight, a renowned election website, it was revealed that Harris leads Trump with a 2.7 percentage point advantage. The analysis indicates that Harris has secured 48.1 percent of the vote, while Trump garnered 45.4 percent.
