**NATO Allies Strategize to Maintain U.S. Support for Ukraine Amid Trump Concerns**

NATO members are developing plans to prevent President-elect Donald Trump from reducing U.S. assistance to Ukraine. Sir Keir Starmer, the British Prime Minister, and French President Emmanuel Macron are scheduled to meet on Monday to discuss persuading President Joe Biden to allow Ukraine to utilize Storm Shadow missiles against Russian targets, as reported by The Telegraph.

During his visit to Paris to commemorate the 106th anniversary of the 1918 Armistice, Starmer engaged in a bilateral meeting with Macron to deliberate on foreign policy matters, including the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. Newsweek has approached representatives from the British and French governments, as well as the Trump campaign, for their comments.

The possible second term for Trump could significantly impact Ukraine's future. Trump has been critical of the substantial aid the U.S. has been providing to Ukraine, referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as "the greatest salesman on Earth." British Defense Secretary John Healey expressed confidence that Americans would continue their support for Ukraine as long as necessary to overcome Vladimir Putin's invasion, highlighting the solid backing amidst the contentious conflict.

The U.S. has so far granted approximately $106 billion in aid to Ukraine since the full-scale Russian offensive began in 2022. With the war reaching a bloody deadlock and the humanitarian toll rising, U.S. support's future under Trump’s leadership remains uncertain as Biden’s presidency approaches its final months. The Telegraph revealed that world leaders are keen on convincing Biden to approve Ukraine's use of Storm Shadow missiles against Russia.

Ukraine has persistently requested permission from the U.S. and the U.K. to strike Russian territory with long-range weaponry, a plea that has been consistently denied for fear of escalating the conflict. Global leaders are now trying to gauge Trump's plans for altering U.S. policy on Ukraine. Trump’s campaign promises included ending U.S. involvement in foreign conflicts swiftly, which has caused concern on both sides of the Ukraine-Russia war.

Trump’s recent confirmations about his cabinet choices, excluding pro-Ukraine figures like Mike Pompeo and Nikki Haley, have amplified worries about a potential shift in U.S. foreign policy during his second term. Adding to the tension, Donald Trump Jr. posted a video mocking Zelensky on Instagram, reflecting a dismissive stance towards Ukraine’s president.

During his Paris visit, Starmer met with French Prime Minister Michael Barnier. Expressing optimism about the Franco-British relations, Barnier reiterated the importance of their alliance in tackling future challenges.
