Rogan, who helms "The Joe Rogan Experience" — Spotify's top podcast with 14.5 million followers — mentioned that Harris' campaign agreed to the interview, but the terms were not aligned with his expectations.
Rogan made this announcement just one week prior to the 2024 presidential election and shortly after he released a nearly three-hour podcast featuring former President Donald Trump. In his social media post, Rogan clarified that the Harris campaign did not reject the idea of appearing on the podcast. Instead, they proposed a date that would require Rogan to travel to her, coupled with a one-hour time limit, conditions Rogan found unsatisfactory.
"My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a human being. I really hope we can make it happen," Rogan expressed in his statement, emphasizing his desire for a more relaxed setting to facilitate a better dialogue.
In the announcement, Rogan also underscored the logistical preference for conducting such interviews in his Austin studio. Despite the setback, he voiced optimism about potentially speaking with Harris in the future.
Reports on Tuesday indicated that Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, is scheduled to appear on Rogan’s show soon. Last week’s episode with Trump saw the former president traveling to Texas for an extensive conversation covering topics such as extraterrestrial life, election security, and foreign policy.
During the session, Rogan fondly recollected his previous support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and even pitched the idea of a Trump-Kennedy team-up. Kennedy had suspended his independent presidential campaign and endorsed Trump earlier in the year.
The podcast further delved into Trump's repeated alarms regarding internal threats to the country, which he depicted as being more perilous than external adversaries. The discussion also touched on Trump’s continuously debunked assertions about the 2020 election being fraudulent.
As Election Day approaches, the political landscape remains dynamic with Rogan’s platform continuing to serve as a critical stage for leading political figures.
