On Wednesday night, Jimmy Kimmel delivered a poignant monologue reacting to Donald Trump's recent victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. During his heartfelt speech, Kimmel expressed deep concerns for various groups and values he believes were negatively impacted by the election outcome. "It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hard-working immigrants who make this country go," he lamented, visibly emotional. Kimmel extended his list to include sectors like healthcare, climate, scientists, journalism, justice, free speech, and democracy.

The monologue quickly went viral and caught the attention of Elon Musk. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Musk criticized Kimmel, calling him "an insufferable nonsense propaganda puppet."

Not one to shy away, Kimmel addressed the comment on his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the following day. He opened by acknowledging the numerous responses his monologue had received, and pointedly highlighted Musk's reaction. “Last night, I shared some of my thoughts and feelings about what happened and how much I'm gonna miss democracy and whatnot," Kimmel remarked, before quoting Musk’s tweet.

Kimmel added a personal touch, saying, "At least my children like me," before further criticizing Musk. He accused the billionaire of hypocrisy, noting, "The guy who paid people $1 million a day to vote for Donald Trump is calling me a propaganda puppet." He elaborated, "Listen, Kermit, you bought a social media platform that is literally a propaganda machine."

To bolster his argument, Kimmel brought up old posts where Musk had labeled major news outlets such as The New York Times, Washington Post, NPR, and the Associated Press as propaganda. Kimmel also aired a post from Trump's platform, Truth Social, in which Trump criticized Musk for seeking his help on several subsidized projects.

In closing, Kimmel reminded viewers of Trump’s claim that Musk had expressed admiration for him and the Republican Party, suggesting that Musk would comply with Trump's demands. As of now, Musk has not responded to Kimmel's latest remarks.

The exchange between the late-night host and the tech mogul highlights the ongoing tension and stark divisions in the current political landscape, with each side leveraging their platforms to broadcast their messages to the world.
