In his first solo campaign appearance, JD Vance, who was recently named Donald Trump's running mate, took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of lying about President Joe Biden's condition. Speaking from the auditorium of his high school in Middletown, Ohio, Vance condemned the "elite Democrats" in "smoke-filled rooms" who allegedly pushed for Biden to leave the race.

Vance expressed concern that such actions threatened democracy, emphasizing that the Republican Party was committed to fighting for democracy every single day. He received a warm welcome from his hometown community, where he reminisced about his teachers, shared stories about his family, and engaged with the audience by discussing local attractions, including the best place in town to get a doughnut.

Taking the opportunity to address Harris, whom Biden has endorsed for the top of the ticket, Vance accused her, Senate Democratic colleagues, and the media of lying about Biden's capabilities. He claimed that everyone who saw Biden knew he was not fit for the job, but no one spoke out until he became "political dead weight." Vance invited Democratic voters who were disillusioned by the alleged "smoke-filled" process to join his campaign.

Furthermore, Vance criticized Harris for her negative portrayal of the United States, suggesting that if one wants to lead the country, they should feel grateful for it. He expressed his gratitude for being chosen as Trump's running mate and jokingly lamented that he might not get to debate Harris due to Trump's involvement.

During his speech, Vance linked his life experiences to policies that he believed Trump was "right" about. He mentioned Trump's opposition to the Iraq War, admitting his own regret for initially supporting it. Vance emphasized that the media had consistently lied about Trump and that he was not the caricature they painted him to be.

Following his appearance in Middletown, Vance traveled to Radford, Virginia for an evening rally. The Trump campaign views Virginia as a potentially competitive state in the upcoming election. As Biden's exit from the race reshapes the political landscape, the campaign has shifted its focus to Harris, highlighting her role in the administration's handling of the border and immigration.

Vance's debut solo campaign rally showcased his commitment to his rural roots and his goal of representing "forgotten communities." As the race intensifies, it remains unclear who Harris will choose as her running mate and who Vance may face off against in a vice presidential debate.

The impact of Biden's withdrawal from the race and the subsequent rise of Harris are yet to be determined, but Trump and his advisers have already identified several traditionally blue-leaning states, including Virginia and Minnesota, as potential battlegrounds. The campaign is poised to continue its offensive against Harris, portraying her as someone who deceived the public about Biden's abilities.

As the campaign trail heats up, JD Vance's solo bid for political office is gaining momentum, drawing both support from his hometown and scrutiny from his opponents. Only time will tell how Vance's campaign unfolds and if his criticisms against Harris resonate with voters across the nation.
