In a tragic incident, Israeli media outlets are reporting that eight soldiers were burned to death in an ambush in the southern Gaza Strip. The attack took place as the Israeli occupation forces launched an invasion into the western neighborhood of al-Sultan in Rafah.
According to reports, the Palestinian Resistance claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that their freedom fighters carried out a complex ambush against Israeli vehicles. The resistance group targeted the cab of a D9 military bulldozer with an al-Yassin 105 shell, causing it to catch fire and resulting in casualties among its crew. Shortly after, a Namer Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) was also targeted with an al-Yassin 105 shell, leading to its destruction and the killing of all its crew members.
Israeli media reports indicate that the eight soldiers inside the APC were burnt to death in the attack. Among those killed was a combat officer in the Israeli occupation forces. The bodies of the soldiers were reportedly completely burnt, and the APC was destroyed.
The Namer APC is known to be one of the most advanced and heavily armored vehicles internationally. This operation by the Palestinian Resistance represents another significant military achievement as they defend the Gaza Strip against the Israeli onslaught.
Experts in military and political affairs believe that this ambush will have implications for the Israeli occupation's operations in Rafah and the entire Gaza Strip. Ahmad Abdul-Rahman, an expert in the field, stated that the Israeli military will now carefully consider any advances into the strategic al-Sultan neighborhood.
As of now, the Israeli military command has not officially admitted to the deaths of the eight soldiers. However, they have acknowledged a total of 650 officers and soldiers killed across all fronts since October 7, 2023.
In response to these events, the Palestinian Resistance continues to resist the occupation forces across the Gaza Strip. On Saturday, factions announced successful operations, including a rocket attack on the Kissufim military site and an attack on an Israeli military-grade D9 bulldozer in al-Sultan.
Intense confrontations have been ongoing in the western Rafah area since Friday night, as the Israeli invasion progresses. The situation remains tense as both sides engage in fierce battles, leading to mounting losses for the Israeli occupation forces.
The events that unfolded serve as a grim reminder of the ongoing conflict and the continued loss of lives on both sides. The international community has called for an end to the violence, urging dialogue and a peaceful resolution to the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.
